OMEGA SUMMER PICNIC On July 26, Wednesday, a very warm and sunny day, fourteen Omega members and one candidate for membership met at Dawn Scales' lovely home where we shared delectable foods brought by us all, interesting conversation in getting to know others better, and then, hunting for a new treasure from the priceless items relinquished by the members. Omega picnics are always fun to attend. This was our first without Maggie and our second without Deborah. Fellowship is our biggest treasure. Text & Photo Courtesy of Denise Clark |

OMEGA ANNUAL FUNDRAISING AUCTION
On November 15, 2022, Omega Chapter DKG held our Annual Auction to raise money for the Grants-in-Aid project to benefit young women going into the field of education in college. King's Catering Restaurant hosted the event for us again this year.
The excitement built among the members as we looked over the items that were donated and displayed on tables. Members placed bid sheets by the items they brought and displayed for the Silent Bidding part of the Auction. Each member was given a number upon arrival at the Auction to use on the bidding sheets. Members could then bid with their number and not their name. Tickets were purchased to use in selecting the Benefit Drawing items. Bags were taped to the tables in front of these items for tickets to be placed in.
Our social time was spent surveying all the items and making our ticket choices and silent bids. Since everyone had to keep checking on their bids, the room became very busy with ladies increasing their bids on wanted items.
Our Co-Vice Presidents, Helene Goodbelet and Jan Astles, gathered everyone at our dining tables to start our evening. After our Welcome Song, introductions of guests and the blessing, we had a delicious buffet. As people finished eating, they spent time continuing to browse the auction items and raising their bids.
After dinner and a brief business meeting and announcements, the Auction event began with drawing the winning tickets for the Benefit Drawing. When the winners of the Benefit Drawing had claimed their prizes, it was time for the Silent Auction. Members were told to go and collect the items they won and the bid sheets. Members totaled their bids and paid Chapter Treasurer Phyllis Frantel.
Since it was a snowy evening, it didn't take long for the evening to end with the DKG Song. When the building emptied, the Scholarship Fund, thanks to our members’ generosity, had gained over $3500.
Good work everyone!!!

OMEGA CHAPTER OCTOBER DINNER MEETING
The October 18th, 2022, meeting of the Omega Chapter was held at the Clifton Springs Country Club. The Meeting was emotional and exciting.
The Remembrance Ceremony for Maggie Wiegand was beautifully presented. Judy Kiehle and Evie Bottorf spoke about their fond memories of Maggie and how committed Maggie was to DKG and our Omega Chapter.
Our own Janalee Weaver presented a program about Self Care and Wellness. She talked about how to recognize when someone needs professional support and where to go for that help. Janalee also had a wealth of ideas for us about staying mentally and physically healthy. She entertained questions from the floor and had a table display of books and articles from which we could get additional information.
With Jan Wright’s leadership and Phyllis Frantel's technical assistance, we had the opportunity through ZOOM to connect with our Omega Sisters who were unable to attend the meeting. We hope to continue this with our spring meetings.
With the passing of the 2022-2023 Chapter budget, the evening of events was successfully ended.

PRESIDENT DAWN SCALES’ FIRST MEETING OF HER BIENNIUM
Omega had its first meeting of President Dawn Scales’ Biennium on September 20, 2022 at the Seneca Town Hall Park Pavilion on a very comfortable day of weather. The Hostesses (Alice Looney, Beverly Lanoue and Marilyn Nicholson) as well as numerous helpers set up the table and chairs, decorated and prepared the food catered by Wegmans of Geneva for a buffet. We are thankful to this Committee and the additional helping members for preparing this venue for the evening. Dinner came first while the food was still warm. Chicken breasts, pulled pork, rolls, ziti with sauce, tossed salad, fruit salad, potato salad and bean salad were delicious and plentiful. Dessert came after the Induction of our new members.
The Omega Induction Ceremony of our new members Lisa Carey, Cheryl Fisher, Heather Kerr and Erica Hasselstrom was lovely. Please read more about the Induction Ceremony in the article that follows “Omega Induction 2022.”
After our cake celebration for our new members, President Dawn Scales talked about the Committee Goal Sheets that were created by Mary-Martha Harvey. The Goal Sheets were distributed to the Committees who met for a few minutes. Past Co-President and now Co-Webmaster Denny Clark talked about the website and all the new articles to be discovered that Mary-Martha created. The address to the website was distributed: www.dkgpistateomega.org.
The business part of the evening was cancelled due to the late evening driving time. Driving in the dark is not pleasant for many of us!

OMEGA "GETS SOCIAL" PICNIC
The Omega “Gets Social” Picnic was held at the Seneca Town Hall Park Pavilion on July 25th. Everyone brought a dish to share and a treasure to give away. Janalee Weaver greeted us. She had the doors open and tables/chairs being set up. President Dawn Scales gave everyone a number so that when your number was called, you visited the displayed treasures and selected one. The call came every five or ten minutes. We enjoyed the various foods prepared by members and the conversation while the treasure call went on. After eating was finished and treasures were found, President Scales called us to pull our chairs into a circle. She then asked us to share summer plans, trips and news. When we left later, our tummies were full of good eats … our arms filled with many treasures … and our hearts filled with the joy of fellowship.

NEW MEMBER TEA
The Omega New Member Tea was held at the home of Phyllis Frantel on August 16th, amid a generous downpour of rain, a delectable deluge of snacks and desserts and a delightful turn-out of Omega members. Each member brought something to share. During the rain storm, new member Lisa Carey from Marcus Whitman found no parking space in the long driveway and decided to leave instead of parking on the busy road. She later assured everyone that she was okay. After a social time with snacks and desserts, the Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee, Lynda John and Kerry Smartt, led the introductions of new members Cheryl Fisher and Heather Kerr from Midlakes and Erica Hasselstrom from Marcus Whitman. The new members shared their stories. Lisa Carey is from Marcus Whitman. Then, Omega members introduced themselves. Coincidental connections were made as we each shared information about ourselves. It was a wonderful afternoon with special thanks to our Hostess, Phyllis Frantel, and everyone in attendance. Submitted by Denny Clark with Photos by Janice Wright, August 2022 |
